Lehmsief, Germany: GETRAC® for difficult substructures

The section of line from Stolberg to Herzogenrath passes through the marshy area of Lehmsief at the Stolberg end, and passes below the Aachen-Cologne fast line. It was refurbished in 2015-16.

Project details:

  • The line used the GETRAC® A3 system and was adapted to the existing intersection enabling it to pass below the Aachen-Cologne high-speed line
  • The GETRAC® A3 ballastless track system needs no internal grounding, which means it was possible to electrify the line without additional planning or system adaptation
  • The product was selected because the ballastless track system could be supplied quickly
  • RAILONE supplied approx. 500 GETRAC® A3 sleepers
