Over the past 30 to 40 years, ballastless track has advanced tremendously in numerous applications worldwide. As a result, solutions are now available for a wide variety of applications such as bridges, tunnels, turnouts, etc. This - and the existence of generally applicable standards for slab tracks - simplifies and shortens approval procedures and risks. In addition, construction methods have been developed that enable fast and economical slab track construction. Life cycle and total costs are often lower than those of conventional ballastless track systems. So it is no surprise that nowadays people are laying out new lines exclusively for slab track applications.
